India's ban on 59 Chinese apps full tech news

Indian government decided to ban 59 Chinese apps from our country we all know that by now but then again there are some questions that we don't know the answers of questions like you've as an user what is your experience going to be now like since these apps are no longer there how big is the impact of this band and are there any alternatives to these apps well breaking it all down up next it's our editor sugar the same Gupta take a look [Applause] this government decision of banning 59 Chinese apps of even a body blow to this entire Chinese app ecosystem we have seen big players like by chance Rui Rui and others have now been made legal to operate in India now they are representing in front of the government they would want their site to be heard as well but this ban leaves
us with three very big questions and we will now answer each one of them one by one and the first question which comes is how big are these app and how big is the ecosystem well the ecosystem is absolutely huge if we take tick-tocks example tik-tok has 2 billion downloads across the world in India which counts for 30% of its traffic share it has over 600 11 million downloads it has also got more than 100 million active monthly users which is a huge number in entire tier two tier three towns have been flooded with tik-tok and hello and other apps and now even the mainstream bar in SC a-plus-plus brackets also have we've seen growth of tick tock we've seen stars coming in stars performing we've seen also the first time performers the first generation entertainers who've made their mark on tick tock so there is a huge ecosystem which is there not just that they employ a number of people in India who are under the bite dance and they have been engaging in with various different communities to create an ecosystem all around it if we look at
UC browser UC browser has over 17 percent of mobile market as of May 2020 in fact in January it had 21% which has gone out to 17% other apps as well like sender share it a camp scanner all these apps are present in India and all of them are present which have millions of millions of downloads so all these apps would now be rendered useless that brings us to the second question how will the ban be enforced well what happens now is that the government now gets in touch with the Internet service providers to block access to these apps you will get a notification on your phone about the restrictions for that app you will not get any fresh updates from there if there are things which can happen locally on your phone those functions would continue like
for example in camScanner you will still be able to scan the documents but you will not be able to go in and check the details there you will not be able to access your cloud storage space either for picked up you cannot share it outside their live feed will slops loading before Yui and we go where woo-hoos downloads are still possible right now but those downloads will stop the app will not get any new software the live feeds will not come in has a creator you will not be able to upload them and slowly what will happen is if this app would be completely rendered useless now it's simple the Internet service providers will stop giving any access or any upload or download support to these apps so once that happens the content which you're trying to access will not be possible to access and that's why you will end up in either using another app or not using this service at all so now that these
59 apps have been banned this brings us to the third question what are the alternatives let's look at tick tock and let's specifically look at indeed button it is - tick tock that is chingaari which has been creating a lot of burns all around it it's growing in the tier 2 to tier 3 cities a lot then there is also raposo which is being talked about even raveena tandon i had tweeted about asking what is repose or sometime back while the indian have so being discussed this also platform called v like which is social media platform where users can again show their talent and it also runs fun contests which awards the users at the end all those who are winning it from tik tok let's move to you see browsers you see browsers have 17% hold in the indian browser market but what are the other alternatives so whenever you're looking at browser it's best if you look at the ones like firefox dr go Chrome this edge and all these are by renowned companies which companies which have got a very good privacy records and big companies
where your transactions would be kept safe one of the key replacements for camScanner which is essentially used to scan your documents is Microsoft blends it provides all those support and mode also gives ways in Microsoft's cloud with where you can store your documents as well so clearly there are option to all these Chinese apps and the world hasn't come down yes it's gonna be tough time for the ecosystem which has been created by tic-tock like in others when you have a set of performers who are often the first generation performers and open earning money by creating videos in these particular mediums for them it is going to be a difficult time now but they will soon have to either adjust to other platforms like Instagram or say the Indian apps which are coming in or they will have to look for YouTube and other platforms but yes it's going to be a difficult deal further because tick tock is something which is drawing heavily and to get a medium which gives them that kind of free is going to take some time and the popularity that they had on tick tock might not be replicated elsewhere as well now moving on to the world of automobiles well this week has been particularly hard for aviation geeks because Airbus a380s the biggest commercial plane ever is well signing off into the sunset so we decided to pull together some interesting facts about the Airbus a380 which will definitely blow your mind develop [Applause] [Music] a few weeks back the convoy carrying outside parts of the final Airbus a380 superjumbo jet arrived in southern France residents of the city greeted the trucks with tears and applause why because this MUX in end of an era not only was the Airbus a380 the biggest airplane to be ever built by humans but also because this marks an onset of an imminent death of large airplanes around the world so in order to commemorate its farewell we decided to give you five astonishing facts about the aircraft that made it a legend in its 13 years of service
it is a well-known fact that the Airbus a380 was touted against the Boeing 747 however not a lot of people know that the two rivals had once considered joining forces in 1993 the two companies came together to study the potential market size of very large airplanes this partnership however fell apart three years later after Boeing decided to not invest on the idea of another jumbo jet however as a verse pressed on of the project a3 double X was born which was later renamed to a380 interestingly by the year 2000 abus foresaw a demand for 1,200 jumbo jets in the following two decades and decided to fill as many as 750 planes however as a modern - injured engines took over the company decided to halt production in 2021 after having produced just over 250 aircrafts
a double-deck aircraft essentially consists of a main deck and secondary deck both dedicated to seeping passengers today the only two double deck aircrafts are the Boeing 747 and the Airbus a380 while the 707 is a partial double deck the a380 is the only full-length double deck around the world in a typical three class layout the Airbus a380 can seat up to five hundred and twenty-five passengers which can be pushed to 853 with a single class layout the aircraft is propelled by four engines that is available with two options including the rolls-royce trent 900 or the engine lines gp7000 turbofan it can fly up 2030 kilometers per hour and can hold up to 80 1,900 Garen's of fuel at a time this provided a range of fifteen thousand two hundred and five kilometers in one trip to build the Airbus a380 four million individual components manufactured by 1500 different companies are required to handle the width and weight of the aircraft several airports had to make notable changes in the past Sydney Airport for example alone had to spend 128 million dollars on upgrades itself since its inception over a decade back the biggest customer buying the a380 from Airbus has been the Emirates the a380 survival has been directly tied to the dubai-based airline after having purchased almost half of all the a380s ever delivered Emirates subsequently has been built around the gigantic egg Rock the production of a380 would have stopped sooner if Emirates would not have ordered another three dozen aircrafts in 2018 however its demise is also partly due to the airline as it cut down its remaining orders from 53 to 14 in early 2019 as M it is decided to go for the younger a350s instead a bus reduce that it's 25 million dollar investment will eventually not pay off major European carriers bought the a380 but in modest quantities however it is quite surprising that the company failed to sell even one unit on the crucial American market while a very plausible explanation could be a probe oil bias it should be noted that other Airbus models are extremely successful in the United States for instance the American Airlines operates the world's largest fleet of both the Airbus a319 and the a321 airplanes JetBlue the six largest carrier in the United States does not have a single Boeing aircraft in its fleet which is constituted 80% of Airbus planes only similarly us-based United Airlines has the fourth largest order of the a350s considering that going to pull the plug on the 747 recently we could assume that like the rest of the aviation industry around the world America too fell out of love for big airplanes the Airbus a380 is the heaviest commercial aircraft to ever exist hence it was on Airbus a shoulder to convince the passengers that the giant aircraft was as safe as it gets after it's made in test flight the a380 was subjected to 2,500 hours of flight tests over the course of 19 months test pilots pushed the a380 to its limits conducting tests in extreme temperature and conditions and the flight passed every test with flying colors as the life of the a380 neared its end Evers acknowledged its mistakes with the humble giant this coupled with a worldwide liking for modern twin jet engines and adaptation of the point-to-point travel model instead of the traditional hub-and-spoke model clearly explains why a jumbo jet makes no sense in today's world not to mention the aviation industry is currently facing one of its worst times during the cove in nineteen pandemic and in a world like this nothing can be more dreadful for Airlines than flying a four-engine jumbo jet hence it could be said that the a380s there are currently parked could remain parked for a long time too [Music] now working from home is the new normal and one of the things that we realized in this work from home culture is the fact that they are using our own computing devices and internet connectivity is more important than ever now HP is trying to go just for those who people who need these requirements as they've come out to the laptop that has inbuilt SIM card support but is it any good the result is finding that out [Applause] [Music] till a few months ago no one seemed to want a laptop everyone was talking about how convertibles which are derived from tablets with a keyboard attached or maybe a smartphone will do most of your productivity tasks well you did have a PC office and you perhaps had a laptop at home any which faced a slightly dated one but where they did get the job done the corona virus pandemic and how the entire work from home routine has kind of shifted priorities over the past few months now everybody needs a good laptop or a PC at home but people usually prefer a laptop because of space constraints in most of our homes so what does that mean that really means that the laptops are now back in vogue you need a full-fledged computing device to really get post-tests done if you don't well your bosses aren't going to be very impressed with woody that is where the entire importance of laptops not only comes to the fore but you have another specific feature which is now getting the high like once again with laptops at
home you need a good crowd bank connection for things to work your broadband may or may not be very reliable so you may need a second line a second backup perhaps an option in case the home broadband gives up that is where the mobile network comes into play so what's your option you put your phone on a tether to make it a Wi-Fi hotspot and then start using it with your laptop that means two devices are being used at any given point of time HP has a solution for that this is the HP 40s laptop and this is one of the very few laptops you can buy right now which has mobile data capabilities built in and by that I mean this uses a sim card pretty much the way your phone uses you've got to access the mobile data network that means you get 4 GU right on your laptop without the need for any hotspot or even a Wi-Fi connection if there is none the way it works is you have a Wi-Fi module built inside the laptop as always and when you additionally get this little SIM card slot as well you plug it in pretty much the way you would on a phone and it connects to your mobile network yes there's this little additional step of putting in the APN settings for your mobile network so you have to check with your mobile operator for that particular information but once you're done Windows 10 will be able to access data from the cellular network apart from that what you get has a word laptop with these HP 14s machines do you have two options here it's a core i3 and the core i5 option available for you it's great to have that option because core i3 may perhaps be relevant for a lot of users where is the Core i5 is for the slightly more powerful tasks as a machine this is extremely well built all through and through HP has not compromised at all as far as the ports are concerned and when you open this up you again get a very premium looking machine it's got a nice keyboard it's got a nice display it's pretty much what you would expect from a mainstream laptop the core i5 variant is priced at the mid-range of around 65 thousand rupees don't you honestly are paying a little bit of premium for the LTE and the cellular capabilities on this particular laptop but then again performance is very very good as you would expect from a core i5 machine Windows 10 runs smoothly HP does has some preinstalled applications on Windows as always but you can uninstall those so that will not be a problem for battery life well depending on your users now really to bring it anywhere between five hours to eight hours on a single judge if you're very careful you will get closer to the eight it in half our mark on a single charge which is great for a core i5 machine all you know if you need a good laptop right now and you think your home broadband deserves a backup option available for you to get work done why not have similar capabilities in your laptop and that is where this machine or maybe even the core i3 variant become extremely relevant as a laptop they do the work as similar capabilities are concerned they just simply book and that is what we need to get work welcome back you're watching the taken Auto Show and I'm your host man of sin are now fuel prices high skyrocketed unlike ever before so much so for the first time ever we had diesel being more expensive than petrol now who would have thought of that but how do all of these things impact the car buying decision of new customers well in order to find that out we got into a conversation with India's biggest automaker Maruti Suzuki and here's how the conversation went
hello everyone I have a very special guest with me today he's the executive director marketing and sales act mark you to India and he'll be talking with me on various topics including the ongoing crisis generate future Association welcome and thanks for talking to news 18 thank you so I'll directly start by asking you what is the efficiency level that you guys have used in the production as well as leadership for business and then out of at least three months last three months or four even the last week of March all the manufacturers were expecting good sales unfortunately the doctor happened and we lost a lot of sales in March and also April was a complete lockdown and showrooms were not allowed to open as well the government directives and therefore we had zero sale in the industry this is the first time I word that there was no okay which was a retail in the entire country including mouth this would be me actually
the government started allowing showrooms to open but June has been much better and if you look at the bookings or if you look at the retail sort if you look at the enquiry level is roughly about eighty eighty-five percent of the normal levels but we came after focus on petrol engines da da 18 so what was the rationale behind the attack you see they were shut off for effect on business both times there is no economic sense or anybody to purchase a small diesel especially because in bs6 the is encumbered by vs6 a conversion from the s4 to the s6 and ethyl is much more expensive compared to a patrol the from cost of acquisition of a diesel car is now 150 thousand rupees and 1.5 lakh rupees to do could be more expensive that we Patrol so it's roughly similar why would anyone create 150 thousand would be more with no advantage in running cost and that I believe will become the trend and that is why it's small diesels like we've announced that we will not be there for the larger diesel probably in the bigger SUVs or even in large sedans maybe bezel might still have some wires and we are watching that situation see if there is any opportunity for the s6 well for Marcus rule the larger diesel tank but as of now it doesn't seem to be making economic sense to buy this a spectrum of expenditure do you see there is a trend of this online platform thing which has the gamma each rage these days later smartest among his resources - yes so I think this online thing is something which has been going on for quite some time nothing to do it cause it almost 90 percent of the people now do research online before they come and buy a car and you'll be surprised that just three or four percent of the inquiries used to come from home that result that three years back I'm talking 2016 but 2019 we found that almost like I like inside the tank was March and February stick stick into nineteen percent inquiries came from the digital clock and post correlate when there was locked down and post coded this crosses it accelerated today in May and June for example so at the moment in India as also actually in the world the popularity of EB this is not so great in fact if you see in the world about one-and-a-half percent only last year were
electric it works the reason is that the current battery technology the next its electrical it was very expensive you know that about fifty five percent of the cost of the electric vehicle is battery cost and so battery technology is very expensive so one the Indian consumer might not accept that high price same second be charging infrastructure is simply not there in our country we are saying that there has to be a mix of thing so yes electric is one of the on of the state you have also have a hybrid technology both you know the strong hybrid the mild hybrid then you also have to think in terms of alternate fuels like CNG which are low very low in our mission and also low cost of that so I think those mix it will be a bouquet of technologies which will be solution to this issue rather than just one thank you very much
